The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
