The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
