The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
