The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. 4 [whereas,] behold, the truly virtuous shall drink from a cup flavoured with the calyx of sweet-smelling flowers: 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
