The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
