The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
