Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide, 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 by those who bring down the reminder, 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 What is promised will surely come to pass. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 When the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 Thus do We deal with the criminals. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 For a known calculated term. 22 Thus We have determined the stages of development and Our power to determine is excellent indeed. 23 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 For the living and the dead, 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 28 Proceed to that which you denied. 29 Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 34 This is a day wherein they speak not, 35 Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it. 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
