Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 Which scatter clouds to their destined places, 3 Then by those that clearly differentiate the right and wrong. 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 that which you have been promised shall be fulfilled. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder 9 and when the mountains crumble into dust 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what day has the term [of all this] been set? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)? 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 Even thus shall We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you from an abject fluid? 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 for a term pre-ordained? 22 Then We facilitated (your birth). How well do We calculate! 23 Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 The living and the dead, 26 and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 “Move towards the shadow of the smoke having three branches.” 30 wherein there is neither shade, nor freeing from the blazing flames 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 If you are cunning, then try your cunning against Me! 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
