Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 Then by oath of those that lift and carry. 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation, 5 To cut off all excuses or to warn; 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what day has the term [of all this] been set? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients? 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 Thus did We Plan and how excellent is Our planning! 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 Proceed to that which you denied. 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 it throws spits as (high as a huge) palace, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 Nor shall they be permitted so that they might excuse themselves. 36 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 If now you have any strategy, use it against Me. 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
