50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By (the angels) sent forth with the commands of God, 1 storming tempestuously 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation, 5 To complete the argument or to warn. 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 for what Day has this been appointed? 12 For the Day of Judgement. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 that We laid within a sure lodging 21 Till an appointed term, 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 for the living and the dead, 26 place on it high mountains and provide you with fresh water? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, 30 Neither shady nor protecting against the blazing Fire. 31 it indeed throws up sparks like castles, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 34 This is the day on which they shall not speak, 35 Nor given leave to make excuses. 36 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 If now ye have any wit, outwit Me. 39 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 40
