Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 and the rain-spreading winds, 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 to excuse some and warn others: 6 Surely that which ye are promised will befall. 7 So when the stars are put out, 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 and when the mountains crumble into dust 10 and when all the apostles are called together at a time appointed... 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 one will be told, "To the Day of Distinction". 13 And what do you know, what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients, 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 That is what We shall do to those who are guilty of crime. 18 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 Then We lodged you in a secure place (the womb) 21 For a known extent. 22 Thus We arranged. How excellent is Our arranging! 23 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 24 Did We not make the earth a storehouse? 25 For the living and the dead among you? 26 And We placed high mountains as anchors in it and gave you sweet water to drink. 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 [But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame." 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 neither be given leave, and excuse themselves. 36 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 40
