The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
