The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
