The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
