The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
