The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
