The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
