The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great event, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
