The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great tidings! 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
