The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
