The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
