The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
