The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
