The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
