The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great event, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
