The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
