The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
