The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 The night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
