The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
