The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
