The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
