The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the Great News 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
