The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
