The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
