The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
