The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great tidings! 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
