The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news - 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Recompense fitted! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
