The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
