The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
