The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
