The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
