The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
