The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great event, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
