The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they differ? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
