The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
