The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
