The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
