The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
