The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
