The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
